AIRO Leads is AIRON’s flagship cohort-based educational programme, designed to help research professionals develop the knowledge, understanding and skills needed to use artificial intelligence responsibly, ethically and effectively within research operations.
Through expert-led sessions, peer learning and practical case studies, participants explore how AI is changing research support, examine real-world examples and develop the confidence to make informed decisions in their own professional practice.
What You’ll Learn
The programme explores the opportunities, challenges and wider implications of AI within research operations. Participants consider governance, ethics, professional judgement and practical applications while learning from experienced speakers and colleagues from across the research community.
Rather than promoting particular technologies or implementation approaches, AIRO Leads encourages critical thinking, evidence-informed discussion and responsible practice.

Learning takes place in small cohorts that encourage discussion, collaboration and reflection. Each programme combines expert presentations, facilitated workshops, case studies and peer learning, creating opportunities to exchange ideas and explore different perspectives.
Participants are invited to bring examples from their own professional experience to enrich discussion and connect learning with practice.

AIRO Leads is open to anyone working across research management, administration, development, governance, libraries, digital services, research leadership or other research-support roles who wishes to deepen their understanding of AI within research operations.
